Honeymoon: How Does a Couple Decide?

Bora-Bora2Like most people about to get married, my fiance Scott and I have spent many evenings trying to decide where to go on our honeymoon. There are so many destinations that appeal to us, so how do we choose?

We decided against the Caribbean because of its close proximity. We felt as though we can go there anytime. June through October is also hurricane season, another strike against the Caribbean. We also crossed Europe off our list. As much as we would love to return to Europe, we realized that it would be a very busy vacation as we would want to see and do everything we possibly could.

When we picture our honeymoon, we see ourselves relaxing and doing absolutly nothing.  A sun destination with little to no risk of hurricanes is what intrigues us. We traveled to Hawaii last October (actually he proposed on a secluded beach in Kauai!), so another destination to cross off the list.

Tahaa and RaiateaNot too far from Hawaii, and an 8.5 hour flight from Los Angels, lays a “tropical eden,” Tahiti and her Islands. Also known as the French Poynesia, the Islands are famous for their huts with thatched roofs overlooking turquoise lagoons. This is exactly what Scott and I are looking for, huts situated over the lagoon where we can dive in and swim and snorkel direclty from our room. One of the resorts we are considering even allows you to remove the table top at the end the bed to feed the fish in the lagoon below!

In November 2003, I traveled to Tahiti and cruised thoughout the islands. I don’t necessarily agree with returning to the same place twice, because there so many destinations I have yet to explore, however this seculded string of islands in the South Pacific is so unbelievably beautiful, I cannot wait to go back and share this experience with Scott!

Bora Bora from PlaneSo after all of debate, we confirmed our flights to Tahiti last Friday! We are still deciding on which islands and how many to visit. We are considering staying 2 nights in Tahiti, 4 in magical Bora Bora and 4 in the private island of Tahaa.

Stay posted to see which islands and resorts we choose. We are hoping to make our decision very soon.
